Product Details
Named after the historic “Sabuci” site where the Cortese winery has stood since 1930, this Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico draws deep inspiration from the ancient Greek heritage of nearby Camarina in Sicily’s Vittoria region.
Hand-harvested between late September and early October, the Nero d’Avola and Frappato grapes are vinified separately to highlight their distinct personalities. Nero d’Avola ferments in open barriques with gentle manual punch-downs, while Frappato is fermented in 700L amphorae, allowing natural micro-oxygenation and extended skin contact for 12 months. The wines are then blended and aged further in a combination of barriques and large casks, followed by additional bottle aging before release.
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby red with garnet hues. The nose is rich and expressive, with layers of cherry and pomegranate complemented by notes of cacao, leather, and caramel. The palate is elegant yet structured, offering depth, fine tannins, and impressive concentration, leading to a long, refined finish.
A limited-production wine of just 7,000 bottles annually, this is a beautifully crafted and distinctive expression of Sicily’s only DOCG wine.
Food pairing: Ideal with grilled meats, game dishes, or aged cheeses—its structure and complexity shine alongside rich, savory flavors.
Grape insight: Cerasuolo di Vittoria is Sicily’s only DOCG and uniquely blends Nero d’Avola’s depth and structure with Frappato’s aromatic lift and freshness—an echo of both power and elegance in one glass.
